      <image:caption>SMART CLASSES WERE DESIGNED TO ENHANCE YOUR WELL BEING. Make a commitment to your own wellness by joining this interactive stress management class. The SMART Model, developed over many years at the Benson Henry Institute of Mind Body Medicine, provides you with tons of proven strategies to help you change your relationship to stress. Designed for everyone, but particularly good for people wanting to learn an overview of proven strategies, as well as for anyone dealing with the negative effects of stress and inflammation, including anxiety, eczema, high blood pressure, tension, problems with sleep, and other challenges related to inflammation and tension. During SMART classes you’ll learn the science of the stress response and how to counter it by learning how to activate your relaxation response. You’ll learn adaptive strategies for how to develop a positive, healthy response to life’s demands. The SMART class curriculum includes the following topics: Learning the Science of Your Stress Response How to Elicit Your Relaxation Response through Diaphragmatic Breathing, Mindfulness, Meditation Techniques, Visualization, Body Scan, and more How to Create More Adaptive Thinking Patterns through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Strategies, Problem Solving versus Acceptance, Shifting Your State through the Art of Savoring, Learning to be More Optimistic, and more concrete tools Change One Thing: Exploring the Latest Research on Exercise, Sleep, Healthy Eating and more Our SMART classes are held in person at our professional and comfortable conference room or on Zoom in the comfort of your own space.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>The SMART model, developed by experts in the biology of stress and relaxation, covers a range of practical knowledge and skills including the biology of your stress response, how to elicit the important relaxation response, concrete practice in different breathing and meditation skills, visualization, how to change your thinking to create a more adaptive, healthy response to stress, and all the latest information and resources on adaptive problem solving, sleep, eating and exercise. This eight week class provides a supportive, friendly environment in which to learn and explore new skills that are proven to reduce stress. Classes are two hours each and are a combination of didactic and experiential learning, as well as using the class format for discussion and support. Rather than learning one skill, such as yoga, the class provides an overview about all the things you can do to reduce health risk due to stress and creates a wonderful momentum to move toward health.</image:caption>
